EXPOSITION TEXT CHAPTER 9 PART 2

How are you, I hope you are in good and healthy condition, so this time I will discuss what a Exposition Text is, types, structure, characteristic and examples.

Definition of Exposition Text

Is a writing that is persuasive and tries to convince the readers or listeners. This paper usually contains important issues that are currently being discussed.

Types of Exposition Text
There are two types of exposition text in English that you can distinguish. Among others are:

1. Analytical Exposition
Analytical exposition is a type of exposition text that begins with a statement that shows the author's attitude, opinion, or position on the theme being discussed, then supported by various arguments and closes with an affirmation or restatement of the opinion stated at the beginning.

2. Hortatory Exposition
Hortatory exposition is a type of exposition text that begins with a statement containing the issue or problem that is raised as the theme of the writing.

Structure of Exposition Text
To write exposition text, there are three structures that must be learned and applied in your writing. Among others are:

1. Thesis : This section will contain the issue or problem that will be raised, while in the analytical exposition this section will contain the position, opinion or attitude of the author.

2. Argument : The section that contains the opinions or arguments that the author begins to explain. Both the hortatory exposition and analytical exposition have the same explanation in this section.

3. Reitaration : Reiteration is a conclusion. The hortatory exposition will contain recommendations or suggestions from the author on the problem that is the theme of the writing. While the analytical exposition, this section will contain a re-statement from the author.

In addition to the structure of writing, there are linguistic elements that you need to pay attention to in writing exposition text. Among others are:

• Using the simple present tense.
• Many use conjunctions such as because of, so, therefore, the reason, and others.
• Contains arguments.
Many use words that contain cause and effect (cause-effect).
• Using vocabulary that can evoke emotions in readers, such as: Amused, concerned, innocent, unreasonable etc.

Characteristic of Exposition Text

• Have Arguments
This text must have arguments that come from the author's thoughts. The arguments expressed are strengthened by the reasons of the author
• Using the Simple Present Tense
This text uses the simple present tense. Even though the written text has already happened, the tenses used are still simple present tense
• Using Evaluative Words
Examples of evaluative words are necessary, valuable, and so on
• Using Modals
Examples of modals are must, should, and so on
• Using Connecting Words
An example of a conjunction is in addition
• Using General Noun
Examples of general nouns are car, pollution, and others

Example of Exposition Text 
Not without reason, breakfast does have many benefits for the body. According to several research studies, breakfast can provide energy for a person to start activities in the morning and improve performance and concentration. In addition, breakfast will positively influence the cognitive skills of the brain, which can improve memory in producing high concentration.

With so many benefits of eating breakfast, it would be nice not to skip breakfast every day. By eating a healthy breakfast every day, your days will feel better. When the body sleeps, you will lose the body's intake for a few hours. Therefore, the body needs to be replenished with nutritious and healthy food intake.

If you skip breakfast, you can imagine that various diseases can attack an empty stomach.
