BIOGRAPHY CHAPTER 7 PART 1

How are you, I hope you are in good and healthy condition, so this time I will discuss what a Biography is, types, structure, characteristic and examples.

Definition Biography

Biography is the story of a person's life that is more complex than just a curriculum vitae and work data. Generally, biographies tell more about the feelings faced by someone in dealing with an event or someone's life

Types of Biography

1. Autobiography
Biographical notes written by the character himself. Autobiography is subjective, because it comes from the character's perspective on life..

2. Authorized Biography.
The author gets permission to write the life story of the character.

3. Unauthorized Biography.
Unauthorized biography includes biographies by author. Unauthorized biography is written without permission or without the knowledge of the characters.

Structure of Biography 
There are three structures of biographical text, namely title, orientation, event (problem), and reorientation. Quoting from the Indonesian module, the following is an explanation of the sentence structure:

• Title
The title is at the beginning before the main paragraph. This title contains the name of the character and his services.

• First part orientation
contains information about the background or events to be told. Orientation is an opening sentence to make the reader interested. The orientation section deals with answers to the who, when, where, and why questions.

• Important phenomenon
This event is related to the problems faced by the characters. There is also an interesting, impressive, and moving part of the story of the character's life.

Characteristic of Biography 

A). Has the content of the story or life journey according to the facts of the character's experience.

B). Written in narrative form.
Has a storyline.

C). Telling important events from the characters so that they can be used as role models for readers.

D). Emphasizes orientation structure, important events or events, and reorientation.

Example of Biography

Andrew Russell Garfield 

Andrew Russell Garfield was born on August 20, 1983. He is an actor from England and the United States. He has received numerous awards, including a Tony Award, BAFTA TV Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time included Garfield in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world by 2022.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Epsom, England, Garfield trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and began his career in British theater and in television production. He debuted in a feature film role in the 2007 ensemble drama Lions for Lambs. He won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film Boy A (2007). He gained international attention in 2010 with the role of Eduardo Saverin in the drama The Social Network, for which he received nominations for a BAFTA Film Award and a Golden Globe Award.

Garfield gained wider acclaim for playing Spider-Man in the superhero films The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and later in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He received Academy Awards nominations for his roles as Desmond Doss in the war film Hacksaw Ridge (2016) and as Jonathan Larson in the musical Tick, Tick... Boom! (2021), Garfield also won the Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor for Tick, Tick... Boom!. In 2022, he starred in the crime drama miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven, earning him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his performance.

On the theater stage, Garfield appeared in 2012 Broadway, Death of a Salesman, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. For his role as Prior Walter in the 2017 London production of Angels in America, Garfield was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award; he reprized the role on Broadway the following year and won the Tony Award for Best Actor.
